題目：Recent Developments in Language Modeling and their Applications

Language modeling (LM), providing a principled mechanism to associate quantitative scores to sequences of words or tokens, has long been an interesting yet challenging problem in the field of speech and language processing. This talk will first review some recent developments of LM methods that have been successfully applied to complement n-grams for automatic speech recognition (ASR), such as topic models, discriminative language models and neural network language models, just to name a few. Furthermore, two novel language modeling frameworks built on top of the notion of leveraging relevance and position cues, respectively, for ASR are presented. Finally, this talk will shed light on how some of the above disparate LM methods can be honed and integrated into speech retrieval and summarization applications which have attracted much research attention over the past decade.
