| 題目：Speech Technology in Life Science, Multimedia Retrieval, and Communication 主講人：曹昱博士(中央研究院資訊科技創新科技研究中心) 時間：103年4月23日(星期三13:30-15:30) 地點：三峽校區商學院商1F01教室 Abstract: This talk introduces our recent achievements in speech-related research with applications in life science, multimedia retrieval, and communication. For life science, I will introduce our recent work in emotion and autism spectrum recognition, as well as new methods for enhancing speech quality and intelligibly for those with hearing loss. For multimedia retrieval, I will demonstrate algorithms for speaker and acoustic event recognition and a prototype system that integrates the two recognition techniques to facilitate video content analysis. Finally for communication, I will present our recently developed noise reduction and echo cancellation algorithms that effectively enhance communication quality. Bio: Yu Tsao received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1999 and 2001, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008. From April 2009 to September 2011, Dr. Tsao was a researcher at Spoken Language Communication Group, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Kyoto, Japan, where he engaged in research and product development in automatic speech recognition for multi-lingual speech-to-speech translation. Currently, Dr. Tsao is an assistant research fellow of the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) at Academia Sinica. Dr. Tsao's research interests include speech and speaker recognition, acoustic and language modeling, multimedia signal and information processing, pattern recognition and machine learning. He is currently a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and International Speech Communication Association (ISCA). |
